Game Summary

Zigfrak is a space-based action RPG, featuring missions, exploration, and crafting. With an emphasis on loot and over-the-top items, it's not a traditional space sim. Enemy ships explode like loot piñatas, spewing forth useful pickups.

The game employs subtle humor to poke light at a dark situation -- a human civil war on a galactic scale, complicated by the invasion of technologically superior aliens. During the campaign, players encounter clues and artifacts which could reveal ancient secrets of humanity.

Review This Game

Zigfrak is space based action RPG with tons of loot, action, exploration and even crafting. The story in the beginning is simple... - you sign as а volunteer pilot in hope of defending your settlements against the Xenoid threat. I don't want to spoil it, but all I can say is – it's very good. So, let' look at the options. Here I have a small critic about the video option – there isn't enough. You can find a slider for the graphics quality, underneath him is shown what is changing – Vsync, AA and so on. I would much prefer separate sliders for everything. Other options you can change here is the framerate, FOV, explosions flare and bloom and fullscreen mode. But the things don't stop here. There is auto equip options for shield, weapons, engines, armor and overshields. You can assign the order of equipping or maybe you want to do it yourself. In the gameplay option you can find the difficulty and shooting settings. Of course you can rebind all the keys. And on top of that you can customize even the interface. There are so many option here and I can safely say that a lot of AAA can learn a thing or two. Lets move to the gameplay. Like I said it is action RPG and you control your ship by keyboard only or keyboard and mouse. I like the second option, it's far more convenient, because even if you lock on enemy it's better the crosshair to stay on the target for more accurate shots. If you are looking for simulation, you may skip this one. The game is arcade, even feels like MMO. You have big toolbar, where you assign the skills you acquired. You can put some some temporary skill to help you, like drones for example. Big part of the game is mining. After several mission the game give you mining laser for mining resources from asteroids and other flying things. Those resources are for the crafting. You can make ship, weapons and so on. And for them you need templates. Some of them are given to you, others you have to buy from vendors in stations you visit. The crafting is simple – click on template and if you have the necessary resources it's done. From vendors you can also buy all sorts of gear, but I didn't do it, later I will explain why. On stations you can also visit bank to store items, to replenish ammo, change your ship and repair damage parts. Yes, here you have to be careful, if something is broken during battle, change it immediately. I mentioned you can buy gear, but I didn't do it. That's because my main way for getting new loot is killing enemies. When you destroy ships sometimes they leave all sorts of stuff. But just to be sure that you will get some loot, disable a ship, board on him and get the loot. In some cases you can capture the ship itself and then use it. But the gear you carry can be looted too, so be careful. And what's the loot you ask? Weapons, shields, armor and overshields, credits, resources and so on. Somethings, like dark matter which is currency, appear at random. The game have even power-ups! The weapons are several types – pulse, ballistic, rocket, mine, rail, beam, singularity, spreader and drones. All of them can do different type of damage – kinetic, thermal, electro, nuclear and strange. Some even can be modified. I'm not going in to details, everything is explain in the game. Also you have payloads, like the mining laser, that may have weapon-like ability. They can be activated from the inventory, without putting them in the toolbar. You can also equip shields, engines, armor, overshields, hyperdrives, wormhole generator, cloak and others. For better gear you need to level up by gaining XP. That's easy. XP is acquired by doing everything – mining, crafting, missions and so on. The hole loot is in different colors so you can easy distinguish the quality of the item. Unnecessary item can be sold for money or dismounted for resources. It's up to you to decide. I was impressed from the variety of missions. From the standard kill everything on screen you can find also stealth, hacking, extortion with a wrench, even searching for pirate treasure. Missions are given to you from the stations you visit. Some randomly appear and you can decline them if you want. If you die, you will respawn after few seconds and the penalty is XP and credits. Several different colorful factions will give you missions – pirates, freerunners, fanatics and so on. There is no voice acting in the game and you will have to read a lot. My biggest criticism is the missing audio option for weapons and sometimes I can hear them, sometimes I don't. But on the other side, the soundtrack is amazing, I really enjoy listening it. In conclusion I will say this – of you like space arcade games with tons of loot, action and exploration, you are in the right place. For that price you receive a package, that can stuck you in front of the monitor for a long, long time. The game is best describe in three words – Diablo in space. I highly recommend it.

Great RPG space shooter. Combat is well made, exceptionally exciting, with soundtrack closely responding events in game. of players ship made via looting of dead enemies or mining is open space. There is main quest with bunch of side-quests giving you more rewards like credits, ship parts, valuable materials. A lot of humor - like some trash floating in space with absurd items. Present on all platforms and multilayer is promised too

Zigfrak is a pretty interesting game. It is a shoot n' loot action RPG, which means when you dispatch your enemies, they explode... into a million different pieces of loot for you to plunder. It's an open world with a huge map and a ton of points of interest. There's many missions you can undertake and lots of enemies to dispatch. And, as I mentioned before, there's tons of loot to grab and ponder over equipping. Everything from new weapons, ammo types, fuel, engines, shields, armor, etc.. It really gets deep. The action is fast and furious and pretty simple to pull off. The game is also pretty gorgeous in full HD, with some really nice space backgrounds, planets, nebulae, etc. to look at. All in all, this is a solid game for anyone who enjoys action RPGs, and the setting of space is a welcome addition for this genre. Check it out, it's worth it's asking price!
