Game Summary

An exciting mix of strategy and role-playing that puts you in charge of a nation's fight for freedom. Your objectives are - to hire a core group of skilled professionals through A.I.M., the Association of International Mercenaries; to win the local population over to your side by displaying courage and loyalty; to train your men around the clock and then send them into dangerous missions and lethal fire fights and to conquer the depths of underground mines, reap their riches and discover their secrets. Each success will bring you closer to total victory, while each failure must be overcome with iron determination. Sometimes a tactical withdrawal can bring you more benefits than a battle for battle's sake. Retreat from one sector only to surprise the enemy by attacking on another flank. At the beginning, some of your enemy's bases may seem to be impregnable - but don't despair - you will have to become stronger step by step and slowly gain ground.

Jagged Alliance 2 goes down in history as my favourite turn-based strategy title of all time, so it was inevitable that I would ...end up playing Wildfire. Wildfire is really more of a commercial, standalone, fan-made mod, rather than a full-on expansion like Unfinished Business, and it's function is to tweak the base game ever so slightly. There are redesigned sectors or maps, higher resolutions making the game look a little easier on the eyes, and a redesigned tactical screen. There are some new mercs to hire, complete with their own quirks and of course new voice-overs (and a squad member increase from 6 to 10), as well as plenty of new guns with new sounds. The new sounds do fall a bit flat, like they were poorly recorded, but they're there and do provide some variety. The changes are really mainly cosmetic, but all the small touches add up to make an already great game even better, without altering the core game itself - the story and gameplay have remained essentially untouched. Having said that, it's a lot harder than the base game I find, so perhaps play the original first before trying this as it is really more for die hard JA 2 lovers who want even more of a challenge than the original games provides - that is, plenty.

Hard to describe this game. As is, its expansion for Original Jagged Alliance 2 game, but its made by community (and later adopt...ed as official). So, basically, its pretty much is original game - same characters, same line, mostly same plot with some changes. On other side it adds a lot of new weapons and items, while making overall gameplay harder. Its tricky to recommend or not this game - if you liked Original you should try it...but it maybe not worth it if you unfamiliar with series.
