Review This Game

Gothic Complete Cllection is a collection of the first three Gothic games (and the third's standalone expansion pack). The Got...hic series is one of the more well known open world roleplaying game series, perhaps the second most well known behind The Elder Scrolls. Among the most complex games of their time and era among open world roleplaying games, they helped introduce things like NPCs that had their own schedule. Blackmiths would work at their forge during the day and go to bed at night, just for one example. The series was also known for its difficulty, the world in the Gothic series isn't scaled, and you do need to keep upgrading not only your skills but your equipment too if you want to be able to adventure out on your own. When you do explore the areas in the Gothic games you'll find a handcrafted world full of places to explore and things to discover. The story in the first three Gothic games were decent but not great, however the characters are memorable, and many of them appear throughout the series. Sound-wise the first three Gothic games all have great music (Gothic 3 particularly), but each of them has fairly uninspired voice acting. All in all, if you're looking for open world games, you really can't go wrong with the Gothic games and the Gothic Complete Collection. While the first two games show their age graphically, the gameplay of the first three Gothics more than stands out and Gothic 3 is still a great looking game with one of the largest open worlds you'll find.

If you're even a remote fan of RPGs, you'd be silly to not pick this up. Within it are three of the most celebrated (and action-RPGs on the PC. ... And Forsaken Gods, which really isn't a Gothic game.
