Great atmosphere at the start, somewhat weaker narrative towards the end. Pros: Certain voice actors, including the male lead,... do a decent job at maintaining the 1930s atmosphere and 'detective noir' feel. The puzzles range from decently engaging to relatively easy, so players might not get stumped that quickly. Some puzzles even 'feel' like the player is actually using his (the main character's) hands to solve the puzzle. Although other Adventure Games have dabbled in this time period and genre (Postmortem comes to mind), this game's soundtrack helps it stand out. Cons: Certain other voice actors sound like they're actually reading their lines. A particularly stereotypically accented voice actor may fit the setting, but may feel racist to modern audiences. One UI mode makes it difficult for player to examine items in inventory, which is critical for progression at certain points in the game. Furthermore, later in the game the story begins to take up several supernatural elements which may ruin the overall tone of the piece for certain players. Overall: Decent storytelling at the start. Gets hampered by tonal shift towards the end. Voice acting is a mixed bag. 3.5/5, counted as 4 thanks to the soundtrack.
